On Wednesday 17th March LT&C hosted an informal online gathering of our Rockhopper Penguins – students and young professionals who have been involved in LT&C in various ways, including as interns. The Rockhoppers are a group of young and highly motivated young LT&C members from all corners of the world. Participants joined the Zoom event from Ecuador, USA, Indonesia, the Netherlands and Germany. The session was moderated by Peter Prokosch, and LT&C members Svein Åke Bjørke (Professor Emeritus at Agder University, Norway) and Christina Cavaliere (Assistant Professor at Colorado State University) also joined as they have been leading the efforts to engage students in the mission of LT&C. The participants explained how their involvement in LT&C has helped them develop their interests and deepen their knowledge – which has also lead them to professional job opportunities. There was common agreement that meeting online to exchange and network is extremely valuable and enjoyable, and we encourage all Rockhoppers to participate and share their own ideas for future events. Rockhoppers are also warmly invited to join LT&C working groups and make use of our social media channels to share news and requests (e.g. Facebook and Twitter).
