The IUCN World Parks Congress 2014 was a landmark global forum on protected areas. The Congress was sharing knowledge and innovation, setting the agenda for protected areas conservation for the decade to come. Building on the theme “Parks, people, planet: inspiring solutions”, it was presenting, discussing and creating original approaches for conservation and development, helping to address the gap in the conservation and sustainable development agenda.
LT&C – as a member of the IUCN WCPA Tourism and Protected Areas Specialist Group (TAPAS) – was at WPC in Sydney. We were in particular participating in events relating to tourism and protected areas, such as the Global Eco.
On Thursday 13th November, 2000 – 2130, in the Jamison Room, the IUCN WCPA Tourism & Protected Areas Specialist Group (TAPAS) organised a Parallel Event on: Tourism and Protected Areas, where members of the TAPAS Group and WPC delegates were invited.
At the World Parks Congress LT&C linked to several delegations, among other from Russia, discussing examples of tourism supporting protected areas:
