LT&C this week participates at the CEETO Conference on Protected Areas and Sustainable Tourism in Opatija, Croatia. High-level speakers from countries implementing CEETO project will share their experience in the development and management of a responsible and sustainable tourism in protected areas and Natura 2000 network.
Practical experience in a participatory planning, development of tourism governance models and testing of tourism monitoring tools will be presented by pilot areas included in the project, while the PRIRODA Public Institution for Managing Protected Nature Areas in the County of Primorje and Gorski Kotar will co-host a field trip to the island of Cres and the Visitor Center and the griffon vulture rehabilitation center Beli.
The aim of the CEETO project and the Conference is to promote an innovative sustainable tourism planning model which reduces usage conflicts, sustains social and territorial cohesion, improves the quality of life of local communities, and encourages the tourism industry to concretely contribute to nature conservation.
